Today Credit Karma presented its findings on how Americans are using credit at the United States Conference of Mayors’ 85th Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C. The brief, titled “Mapping the Credit Landscape in America’s Cities,” benchmarked the average credit scores and mortgage, student loan, automobile and credit card debt of Credit Karma members in 20 cities across the country. The report is a resource for civic leaders trying to understand how residents in their cities are currently managing credit, as they consider programs to strengthen city economies. “Information about how real people are managing their credit can be valuable for leaders creating their own initiatives to improve financial health,” said Credit Karma Senior Manager for Policy and Consumer Education Harris Qureshi. “Credit Karma is dedicated to helping everyone make financial progress and our collaboration with the Conference of Mayors is one way we are delivering on that mission.”The presentation is the first in a series of reports Credit Karma will be authoring in collaboration with the United States Conference of Mayors and its Council on Metro Economies and the New American City, highlighting best credit practices and financial trends in America.
