Credit Karma, the consumer’s financial advocate serving more than 30 million people, has been named one of the healthiest employers in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times jointly chose Credit Karma among its top mid-sized companies.
This marks the first year that the organizations have given honors to Credit Karma and the inaugural year of Credit Karma’s “Healthy is Happy” program, a technology-driven workplace wellness initiative designed to promote and support a health-focused lifestyle, both at and outside of the workplace.
“Credit Karma placed huge emphasis on developing a more formal workplace wellness program this year, as our employee population doubled last year and will triple this year, and we are excited for the award and recognition as we begin rolling out ‘Healthy is Happy’ to our team,” said Ragini Parmar, Vice President of Talent for Credit Karma. “It’s a cornerstone philosophy of our company to not only create a fun working environment, but one that advocates for true balance and well-being, because as the program name suggests, healthy employees are happy employees.”
Healthy is Happy is a highly engaging initiative that aims to surround employees with the support, tools and resources needed to achieve a balanced, healthy life, and the heart of Healthy is Happy are technology and data. Employees engage with the initiative and with each other through a social media platform and tracking app that enables workout and nutrition tracking, competition, sharing and more. Other elements of Healthy is Happy will include: healthy food and nutritional guidance, company challenges and rewards, visits from health professionals, activities like yoga classes and health workshops, discounted gym memberships and more. Healthy is Happy is meant to be fully incorporated into employees’ lives so much so that friends and family can participate through the technology platform as well.
The Healthiest Employer awards program recognizes organizations that are committed to creating a healthy workplace. The award utilizes an online assessment tool and measures wellness programming in leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communications and marketing, programming and interventions, and reporting and analysis.
