Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), the consumer's credit advocate, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for February 2010. Amongst consumers with a credit card, credit card debt increased 6% nationally from January and is the highest it has been in 10 months. The Midwest and Northeast regions showed the highest increases in credit card debt with a 7% increase and Kansas City consumers represented the highest gain for a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), increasing debt by 10% in February. In addition, consumers in six states increased their credit card debt by more than 10%.

Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), the consumer's credit advocate, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for January 2010. On average, nationally, credit scores dropped by two points in January to 669, marking the first time credit scores have dropped below 670 in 12 months. In addition, consumers in three states managed to lower their credit scores by more than five points.

Credit Karma (<a href="https://www.creditkarma.com">www.creditkarma.com</a>), the consumer's advocate for demystifying credit, today released its U.S. Credit Score Climate Report with trend data for the second half of 2009. Amongst consumers with a credit card, credit card debt increased 18% nationally from July. The Philadelphia Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) had the highest increase in credit card debt, with consumers racking up 40% more in credit card debt since July. In addition, consumers in five states increased their credit card balances by more than 30%.

Amongst consumers with a credit card, credit card debt increased 4% nationally from October and 14% since June. The San Francisco and Kansas City Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) were the only regions where consumers with a credit card paid down their debt. In San Francisco and Kansas City, credit card debt declined by 4% and 9% respectively.

The Midwest and Northeast regions showed the highest increases in credit card debt with 16% and 17% respectively, and Philadelphia consumers represented the highest gain for a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), increasing debt by 28% in October.

Consumer credit card debt decreased this month. In addition, from June to September credit card debt decreased by 4% nationally and four states experienced double digit decreases in credit card debt quarter over quarter.

During the March 2009 to June 2009 time period, Credit Karma saw an increase in credit scores across all geographies; however, for the third straight month the percent of credit scores rising has tapered off and more consumers are seeing their credit scores remain stable. 38% of consumer credit scores have gone up, 28% have gone down, and 34% remained the same. The current average U.S. consumer credit score is 674, which is the same as in May.
