BankAmericard® credit card: Core features to know

If your top priority is to save money while financing a big-ticket expense or paying down credit card debt, the BankAmericard® credit card is an excellent choice.

Long 0% intro APR offer

The BankAmericard® credit card is primarily a balance transfer card, with one of the longest intro APR offers on the market.

The card offers an introductory 0% APR promotion for 18 billing cycles on balance transfers made within the first 60 days after the account opens, as well as on purchases. After that, the ongoing variable APR for both is 15.74% to 25.74%. And the balance transfer fee? 3% of the amount of each transaction during the first 60 days. After that, the fee is 4%.

If you transfer a high-interest credit card balance to BankAmericard® credit card, you might be able to save a significant amount of money. But do the math before you transfer a balance — and make sure to include the balance transfer fee in your calculation. Though the long intro period may appear to be an enticing offer, it’s good to be aware of any balance transfer risks before you decide to apply for the BankAmericard® credit card.

No rewards program

Depending on how you use the card’s introductory APR promotion, you can save a lot of money on interest over 18 billing cycles. But because the card doesn’t offer a rewards program, you might have a difficult time getting value from the card after the promotional period ends.

If you’re not worried about rewards, this feature won’t be a deal breaker. But if you want to get a little back whenever you use your card, you might want to consider other options.

On the other hand, the lack of a rewards program can help you focus on paying off a transferred balance because there won’t be other features to tempt you into using the card for too many new purchases.

Potential for a high APR

Introductory APR promotions can feel like a lifesaver if you need time to pay down a credit card balance. But if you carry a balance on the BankAmericard® credit card after the intro period ends, you could get hit with a regular variable APR of 15.74% to 25.74% on whatever is left over, as well as any purchases or other transfers you’ve made.

Other card details to know

For the most part, the BankAmericard® credit card is relatively straightforward without a lot of frills. But there are a handful of other benefits that can add value, including …

  • No penalty APR if you miss a payment
  • Compatible with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay
  • Free access to your monthly FICO® credit score from TransUnion
  • $0 annual fee

Who this card is good for

The BankAmericard® credit card does one thing and does it well: promotional APRs. So if you’re in need of a card with an introductory APR offer, put this card on your shortlist.

But remember: The card doesn’t have a rewards program. So if that feature is on your wish list, the BankAmericard® credit card might not be your best choice.

Not sure this is the card for you? Consider these alternatives.

If you’re on the fence about the BankAmericard® credit card, or just want some options to compare it with, consider these cards.

  • Citi Double Cash® Card: If you’re planning to do a balance transfer but also want great rewards, consider this card.
  • Wells Fargo Reflect® Card: This card comes with a long intro APR offer, plus an incentive to make on-time payments throughout the introductory period.

Just from "all" of the negative reviews, I would "NOT" apply for this credit card. I recommend "Discover". "Never" have I ever had a problem with Discover when it comes to my card. Customer Service, I would give them a 99.99% rating. I have other credit cards, and I "still" say that Discover is the best.
