What you need to know about the The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card

The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card is good for busy business owners who want a card that offers a simple rewards system, such as cash back rewards that are easy to earn and redeem.

Earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases

With The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card, there are no cash back categories to keep track of or reward expiration dates to watch out for. You’ll earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases, up to $50,000 annually. After you reach the $50,000 cap, you’ll earn 1% cash back on all eligible purchases. This cash back is automatically credited to your account each month as a statement credit.

That’s a good rewards rate for a card without an annual fee. But, because the 2% cash back rate only applies to the first $50,000 in eligible purchases, big spenders may be missing out on the opportunity to earn additional rewards.

Intro 0% APR on purchases

If you want to finance big purchases, this card offers an introductory 0% APR on purchases for the first 12 months from account opening. Once the intro period is over, you’re looking at a variable APR of 17.49% - 25.49% for purchases, depending on your credit history.

The intro 0% purchase APR offer could help fund big purchases for your business while delaying or eliminating the need to pay interest. (Just make sure to pay off the balance in full and on time before the introductory period is up.) Plus, you’ll earn cash back on purchases you make during the intro 0% purchase APR period. We think that makes this card a win-win.

Expanded buying power

If you need to make purchases that are above your credit limit, you may be in luck. The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card offers an Expanded Buying Power feature, which allows you to make purchases above your credit limit if you qualify for it.

The amount you can spend above your credit limit isn’t unlimited, though. It adjusts based on factors like your card use history, credit record, payment history and financial resources. So spend wisely — the amount you spend over your credit limit is due in full each month, along with your minimum payment.

Welcome bonus

If you’re not a big spender when it comes to your business, this welcome bonus may be easier to attain than others. With The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card, you can earn a $250 statement credit after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. While it’s not the highest welcome bonus we’ve seen, it is extra money that can be put toward your business. It’s important to know that this is not a cash reward — the welcome bonus will be a statement credit applied to your credit card balance.

What else you need to know

The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card comes with other membership rewards created with the small-business owner in mind.

There’s no annual fee, so you won’t need to worry whether you’re earning enough rewards to justify the cost of having the card.

Who this card is good for

The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card is good for the business owner who wants a simple cash back reward system. With cash back automatically credited to your account each month as a statement credit, there’s no need to worry about redeeming cash back. This is also a great card if you need to finance any large upcoming purchases since the card may allow you to exceed your credit limit through its Expanded Buying Power option.

But if you spend more than $50,000 per year, there are other cards that have reward offers that can add up to more. You may also want to steer clear of this card if you prefer earning other rewards, like travel, and allowing your rewards to accrue over time rather than getting a monthly statement credit.

Not sure this is the card for you? Consider these alternatives.

It’s a good idea to shop around before making a decision about a credit card. Here are some other options to consider.

Outstanding, 25k

Credit Karma Member

CK said my chances were "excellent", so I applied, and being I already have an Amex BCP they only did a soft pull on my credit and came back with an instant approval with 25k limit! Bonus, AMEX business cards don't report to your personal credit. Outstanding!

$250 welcome offer scam

Credit Karma Member

I had this card and started spending from it to reach $3,000 before first 3 months to get my $250 cash back bonus. I reached $3,000 in spendings way before first 3 months and never get any cash back. At first they representatives told me to keep waiting but then they just told me that I will not going to receive my bonus just because. Feels like I got scammed.
