Took a week???but Approved!

I applied last thurs 11/13/14. Didn't get an instant approval or denial either. Called in and was told that the underwriters were manually looking at my application and would take 3-5 business days. What an agonizing wait. Especially since everyone else was either approved instantly or denied instantly. I knew I stood a 50/50 chance because just the month before they had approved an $5k personal loan for me. I got the email in my inbox this morning of approval and my credit card in my online profile. Approved for $7k, pulled my Equifax, score is 690. Very pleased. I'm glad that they looked at my accounts manually and my overall credit profile. It's good to be back in primeville after diligently paying my credit cards ontime for the last 4/5 years. Started rebuilding my credit profile last year...was in the 500's now just a few points shy of being back in the 700s club. I've also relearned credit behavior, so how I was with my credit before, is not how I am with it now. I think for anyone to sucessfully master credit card debt/behaviour, you have to learn to manage your money and let it work for you, not vice versa. Thanks USAA.

Don't do it

Unless you're willing to deal with a company that holds your credit card payments for up to 10 days. Get an American Express card directly from American Express instead. USAA's payment hold policies are awful and violate the federal Truth in Lending Act. 7 to 10 day holds for payments to reflect is unacceptable, artificially increases credit utilization as reported to the bureaus as well as makes your CL inaccessible. No other credit card issuer I know of holds payments that long. The only response from customer service is to read the fine print regarding how long they "can" hold a payment or a recommendation to change banks to USAA for faster payment processing (which does not work).
